When it comes to renewable energy, wind is hard to beat. It makes a more cost effective system, if you have a good site. It's a great compliment to a solar array as the wind comes with cloudy weather and may blow all night when the Sun is down. Most people that want wind systems usually know that they have a good site, wind chimes always tinkling, flags always fluttering, the tops of trees always in motion. If you see these things and you are on a hill or in a big field or near a large body of water than wind will be a great option.

We offer three different wind generator product companies, Southwest Windpower, Bergey, and our favorite, African Wind Power from Abundant Renewable Energy... It does cost a little more, but it has a much larger wind swept area, (11 ft Rotor diameter and wind swept area is what it's all about...

Wind systems will usually cost less than solar and we start them at around $600.00 for the Air X by Southwest wind...The Africans go for about $2,250 for the wind plant plus tower and accessories.

Do you have a good wind site? - Wind powered battery charging systems can be cost effective if the average wind speed is nine miles per hour (mph) or more at the location of the wind generator. If you are using wind in combination with photovoltaic power, it may be cost effective if you have good wind only during part of the year. The power available from the wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed. When the wind speed doubles, the power delivered is eight times as great. Most wind generators are designed to deliver maximum power at a wind speed of 30 mph. At 15 mph, they will deliver about 1/8 their rated power. A wind generator should be mounted at least 20 feet higher than any obstruction within 300 feet to avoid turbulence.

Whisper H 40 Wind Generator

The H40 is designed to operate in a site with medium to high wind speed averages of 12 mph, 5.4 m/s, and greater. The H40 provides 100+ kWh per month, 3.4 kWh per day, in a 12 mph average wind speed location. The H40, with its 7 ft. (2.1m) rotor diameter and 40 sq. ft. swept area, is rugged enough for extreme environments. Includes tower Kit information.

Whisper Wind Model H80

The Whisper H80 is designed for sites with low to moderate average wind speed (12and less). mph (5.4 m/s). The H80 has twice the swept blade area, providing double the potential energy as compared to the H 40. Includes Tower Kit information.

Whisper Wind175

The 3000-watt rated turbine will deliver in excess of 500 KWH per month in a 12 mph wind. This machine has a 14-foot (4.26m) rotor diameter providing 175 sq. ft. of swept area. The 175 has been redesigned, incorporating a stronger, larger yaw shaft, new blade stabilizer straps and a third spindle bearing for increased reliability.

African Wind Power

Welcome to Abundant Renewable Energy. Our name is a statement of our philosophy.

We sell residential size Wind Generators and related equipment for home electricity production. We are the importer and distributor for the African Wind Power (AWP) wind generators, and we remanufacture the classic DC Jakes. We also make and sell towers for wind generators.

We have the AWP3.6 model available in various voltages. The model number refers to the rotor diameter in meters (11.8 ft), not the machine's maximum power production. The AWP3.6 has approximately a 1 kilowatt peak output. It produces more kilowatt hours of energy per rated watt than machines that have comparatively smaller rotor diameters. These machines are suited to get the most energy from low to moderate wind sites. They are simple, sturdy and dependable. They are also affordable.
